    Yes
    Long time
    Painful
You don’t actually see the braces moving your teeth, it happens over time

It definitely depends on how crooked your teeth are. I know for my friends who got braces even when their teeth were decently straight, it only took 2-3 months for them to perfect their lining. But considering you have a gap, overbite, and crossbite, it will probably take several years. My teeth were never THAT crooked, but I have had my braces for 5 years with a well-trusted orthodontist. Definitely depends on your situation!

Its uncomfortable when they put your braces on, because u have so many things in your mouth to keep it dry. The process is probably going to take about an hr. Afterward for me it felt like i couldn’t close my lips around my teeth. Your mouth will feel sore the next day, same with your teeth.
    Good Luck
** take a few advil before going to get your braces on. That’s alot of work for your mouth in one hr.

They start moving your teeth a few hours after they are put on. It doesn’t hurt to get them on, take some tylenol before you go to avoid pain afterwards. It takes 2 hours to get them on but you are given a lot of breaks. Afterward, it feel a little strange, it will take your lips a few days to get used to having to go over something to close your mouth, and it will hurt for about a week afterwards.

  6. It doesn’t really hurt that much at all. It will feel kinda weird when you first get them on and there will be some discomfort for a couple of days, but it’s definitely manageable. If the pain gets really bad, just take a Tylenol or ibuprofen (or basically whatever medicine you would use for a headache or something like that.) It always depends on who’s doing the procedure of course, but for me, it took about an hour to get them on I think. It will depend of course if you are getting both your upper and lower braces on at the same time. If you’re getting both, it will most likely be 2 hours, but you will most likely get breaks in between. (I had mine put on seperate for various reasons, but everyone is different!) The braces will slowly, but surely, move your teeth. It’s hard to say the exact time that they will move your teeth, but it’s usually right away, and gradual of course. Don’t worry about it, everything will be just fine! :) Hope this helps!

First of all, take a deep breathe. Inhale, Exhale. Every things going to be okay! :) Braces aren’t that terrible.

It really depends on the patient, but it did not hurt me at all getting mine on (Ive had them for about 2 months) But, i would suggest taking advil or tylenol 30 min. before you go to get them on.

For me i got top bottom of braces done, which you’ll probably have too, and that took about an hour and a half, which seems like an excruciatingly long time to sit in a chair, but it wasn’t that bad. Just think about stuff for awhile.. :)

You’ll experience what it will all feel like after wards. While sometimes you’ll be so annoyed at your braces for giving you cuts in your mouth, and just being annoying, you’ll notice things changing quite quickly. I had ‘fangs’, too high in my mouth, and the 2 months ive had them, they’re almost already down! Its crazy!
There’s different types of braces, so your might be different.

Getting braces isn’t the funnest experience, but even from just getting my ‘fangs’ down, i think its worth it.
    Good luck! =D

Don’t worry, braces are not that painful. While getting them put on, you won’t feel anything. Usually they only put the brackets on the first day. Depending on how many teeth you need braces on (top, bottom, or both) it could take an hour or 2. You’ll be a little sore afterward, and it will be hard to chew things, but it will go away in a few days. About a week later, or whenever your orthodontist tells you to come back, they will put the wire in the brackets that are on your teeth. This will feel tight, but once again, nothing that you can’t handle. (I’m a real wimp with pain, and it didn’t bother me that much.) As far as when they move your teeth, it all depends on the orthodontist and the treatment that you’re going through. Your orthodontist will probably give you a time line of when things will happen and how fast they will happen.

Anyways, enough with my rambling. Good luck! It isn’t as bad as you imagine!

Braces don’t hurt in the way the people think they do. Your teeth might ache the day after you get them on, and then the day after each visit when the change the wire. It’s not that bad, but there was once or twice when I had to take a panadol so I could sleep.

Braces can take any range of time, it depends on the method your orthodontist uses (removing teeth or not etc.) Mine took about 4 years total, but I needed a retainer first.

I started to see a really really small change after the first time they changed the wire (about a month I think), but be prepared to feel like it’s not worth it for a while. Your teeth will move very slowly.

When you first get them on it will feel funny against your gums. You may get some small cuts inside your mouth, but if you do ask your orthodontist for some wax. It seems weird but you just put it on the braces where they are cutting you and it stops it.
Once you get them off your teeth will feel really slimy, because you will get used to the braces being there and then you end up with these smooth teeth, it’s funny, in a cool way.

ok. i just got my braces on 5 hrs ago and they feel fine! they dont hurt that bad. i just drink alot of cold water to numb it but thats all. i also take some Tylenol and advil. you will probably have braces for 2 years. your teeth will feel great when they come off but you have to brush 2 times a day And floss at lest 5 times a week or your teeth wont look good when your braces come off! when you first get your braces on your teeth wont move much at all but at your next appt., 8 weeks later, they will tighten your wires and then it will start moving your teeth.

  11. *Miss Rachel says:

Start working: Depends on the person. Usually no later than a month. But if you get them off that soon, your teeth will move right back, that’s why they need to be on a long time.
Does it hurt: For me, it was just uncomfortable, not actual pain getting them on. Hurts like hell later though, I couldn’t eat much. Take an advil about 30 minutes before getting them on.
How long: I think it took about an hour for me. They have to individually stick on each bracket and make sure nothing is stuck between your tooth and the bracket…everything’s gotta be clean!
Afterwards: like I said, hurts like crazy, so take an advil. You will get used to them quickly though. It also hurts when you get your wire changed afterward.

So basically, nothing actually is painful when getting things on/off/replaced/etc. it’s just afterward that it’s sore.

  12. Morgan says:

you don’t actually see your teeth move in a few seconds. it can take days to weeks to see any change. my bottom teeth were really bad, over bit and the top teeth were okay. when they finally put my bottom braces in, they looked like a booby-trap! they did straighten out though.
when I had them, my cheeks were so scraped up, that now that they are off, i still have scars! but you will have have good days and bad days with your braces. when they tighten them, they hurt the day after. eat icecream to help the pain. it really isn’t that bad, but it helps. your teeth will look like they are in position for a long time. but when they finally come off, it will be great! just remember to wear your retainer! by the end of the day, and i’m ready to put the retainer in, i can see the change over the day

  13. Abby says:

it doesnt hurt to get them put on, the process is about 2 hours if you’re getting top and bottom together, it will feel like you have a load of crap in your mouth (make sure to get wax), it will gradually move you will be sore for a few days.

try to stay on a soft food diet (jamba juice, ice cream, yogurt, mashed potatoes, pasta) because your teeth will be sensitive to stuff like meat, anything hard/sticky.

  14. K K says:

it hurts a few hours after they’re put on-A LOT

the process of getting braces 4 me wus like 30min to an hour but they had 2 xplain a few things..

idk wat u mean afterwards like if u mean when they’re off or wut

the braces move ur teeth over time

(: i tried 2 keep the answers short simple hope i helped

  15. No, it does not hurt to get braces on. You may feel slight discomfort when you have adjustments, but nothing unbearable. When braces are being put on, don’t deliberately taste the glue that bonds your appliances; it tastes very bitter. The only thing that was remotely uncomfortable about getting braces was that they got my mouth very dry before they bonded the brackets to my teeth, by blowing cool air on my teeth with a tool. After you have the cool sensation, they used a special light to harden the glue, which was warm. For me, going from cool to warm rather quickly makes my teeth sensitive, but it’s nothing horrible. If you have a bracket taken off, then they will have to buzz away the glue with a special tool, which is only slightly uncomfortable.

Th process of wearing braces can be anywhere from 1-3 years, usually. If you are a younger person, and entering phase 1, then you will have braces on longer. It depends a little bit on how old you are. Phase 1 usually occurs between the ages of 6-11, when your jaws are still growing. Phase 1 lasts about a year. This is for baby teeth that are not alligned right. If you had braces for phase 1, you will most likely have them for phase 2, usually ages 11-13. This is for straigtening adult teeth. This usually takes 1-2 years. I had something called full TX. I did not have phase 1 or 2…..I got them on my adult teeth when I was almost 13, and they were supposed to be on for 2 years….it’s now been two years and 2 months. :( In case I did the math wrong, I am almost 15. :)

You have the exact same things I had. I had a bunch of gaps, a crossbite, and a severe overbite. I have been wearing my braces for just over 2 years. My crossbite was fixed soon after getting braces, because I had an appliance that widened my upper jaw; I think it was a quad helix. My overbite was fixed by wearing elastics for 2 or 3 months, and I had these white things glued to the back of two upper teeth earlier in my treatment. I also have both top and bottom braces. You are not supposed to eat anything chewy or hard, like caramels or candy. Limit sugar intake, and limit pop. If you really want to drink pop, then drink it with a straw to keep it away from your teeth. You can eat most foods, but eating hard or sticky things can break appliances. Sugary foods can create permanent white spots on your teeth if you do not brush immediatly after. BRUSH YOUR TEETH!!! :)

Does it hurt to get them on? just the pressure no pain
How long is the process of getting braces?mine took about 20 mins including the cleaning
What will it feel like afterwards? afterwards it will feel like a mouthful but you get used to it in a week and a half :]
And when does the braces move your teeth? as soon as u feel your teeth hurting.

after getting braces on u wont be able to have any solid food or it will hurt very bad. just have some scrambled egg, jelly, ice cream, custard etc. it takes a maximum of 2 weeks to officialy stop hurting but a few teeth still might hurt.

congratz and it’s all worth it in the end. Perfect smile

  18. I had braces on my bottom teeth and I didn’t really feel any pain when they were applied. The length of the process is determined by the extent of work you need done. I had four teeth that were mildly crooked and I had to wear braces for about a year and a half or less by a few months. The braces will move your teeth most likely within the first month. They will seem perfectly lined up in no time, but make no mistake that if they braces are removed at this point they will surely go back to their undesired state. The first couple months will be the most painful. I couldn’t eat sandwiches for a while. Everytime you bite into a solid food, it will feel as if your teeth are moving and it is very painful. The pain won’t last long, though. Everytime you have your braces tightened, however, you will feel some discomfort for a week.

  19. Bexgy says:

Im going to answer your questions in order.. ahha
    1. It doesn’t hurt. It feels a bit strange but its nothing awfully painful.
    2. The process varies depending on your teeth. Putting the actual braces on takes about an hour-ish. Then you will have them on for 1-3 years (approx. some people have less, some people have more).
    3. After getting braces on? or off?..
on – it takes getting used to, but that doesn’t take long. off – you feel like a part of you is missing, but its such a nice feeling to have them off and lovely teeth.
    4. your braces technically start moving your teeth straight away. Its just you cannot see the slight changes that fast. I saw changes in the first month/2 months. It depends on how fast your teeth move.

About the eating – to start off with, softer things. Bread, youghurt, jelly, soup, liquids etc. Thats just while it aches and you’re getting used to it. Then after that, just about anything, as long as it doesnt stick to your brace, or is so hard that it breaks it.

  20. No, it doesnt hurt to get them on, dont be afraid :)
It depends on either how bad ur teeth are, or how long ur orthodontist wants them to be on…
It will scratch ur cheeks a little, be a little sore due to the pressure being on yur teeth
The braces start to move yur teeth in about 3-4 months
You cant have anything sticky, hard, or too much sugar… e.g: NO popcorn, gum, jolly ranchers, laffy taffys, sugar daddy’s, its pretty self explanitory…

DONT BE SCARED!!! I WAS AFRAID OF GETTING BRACES TO BUT TRUST ME IT DOESNT HURT AND IT’LL ALL BE WORTH IT WHEN YOU GET THEM OFF AND YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SMILE TO SHOW!!!

  21. Salma R says:

The braces doesn’t do it on its own. You have to return periodically to the dentist and he tightens the braces a little at a time each visit.

  22. scooter says:

I don’t really think that it hurts too bad, nothing that you can’t handle, but it does hurt for about the first week. The day that you get them on, it takes about an hour and a half. It depends on how bad your teeth are. After you get your braces on it will feel weird to you because you haven’t had that much metal in your mouth at one time. The braces move your teeth basically all the time, but mostly when your braces are tightened. Lastly, for about the first week or two I would try to stay away from food that requires a lot of chewing. I would eat things like potatoes, rice, mac and cheese, etc. I hope this helps.
