Dustin asked: I need to get my wisdom teeth taken out, but don’t have any dental insurance at the moment.
I’m unable to get it through my employer, so I need to find a cheap plan that would allow me to choose my own dentist.
Would I be able to cancel the plan after I received the treatment?
Any recommendations and specific cost amounts would be great!
In case it matters, I’m 22 and live in Southern California.

Shireen asked: Hi there, I’m a 23 y/o full time student in California and I will very soon need some dental work done, including in the future, some cosmetic dentistry. I need affordable dental insurance that will allow me to choose my dentist. I asked my dentist which she accepts, and she told me any insurance plan in which I can choose freely my dentist.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard that a lot of people getting braces don’t have enough space in their mouth to straighten their teeth, so a tooth or two may be pulled out before getting braces. But I’ve also heard that if you have adult teeth, nothing will grow back in its place. I may be getting braces next week, and what really scares me is if I’ll have some teeth pulled out. What are the chances? And if I have a low pain tolerance, would you recommend me taking some kind of pain killer or let the dentist handle it?

I scheduled an appointment with my dentist and I told him that I would have to wait to get bridge work or implants done due to finances. He gave me other options one of which is a dental flipper because these are my side teeth – replacing one on each side. It’s really not noticable unless I smile really big, but I am self-conscious about it. He thought that would be an excellent solution temporarily and I agreed. The price that I was given was $550 (again this would be out of pocket). Is this a good price or should I search around? I thought a flipper would be a lot cheaper than your normal partial.
