When do babies start to smile on purpose?

My daughter is four weeks old and she smiled and giggled while looking at her dad today. Was it real or still mirror reflex? I can’t wait for her to actually smile on purpose and not just in her sleep. When will I hear a real laugh from her?

How long does it take for babies to smile for real?

I know when they’re first born it’s really just gas when they smile. When do they start smiling for real and when are they supposed to start holding their head up by themselves?? My baby is a week and a half old and at about 4 or 5 days old she was trying to hold her head up and now can get it up but just has trouble keeping it up for a while. Is that normal?
